Data Attribution & Sources
Elentoo aggregates antibody data from multiple independent sources. This page explains where our data comes from, how it's processed, and how to properly cite Elentoo and our data sources in your research.
Primary Data Sources
🧬 Antibody Registry (SciCrunch)
Source: https://www.antibodyregistry.org
The Antibody Registry is the definitive catalog of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. It provides standardized identities (RRIDs), vendor information, and citation data for ~3.2 million antibodies across thousands of vendors. The registry is maintained by SciCrunch, an NIH-supported organization.

🧪 Only Good Antibodies Experimental Evidence
Source: https://www.onlygoodantibodies.co.uk
Only Good Antibodies provides independent experimental validation of commercially available antibodies. Their curated database includes quality ratings, application-specific support evidence, and real experimental images showing how antibodies perform in actual use.

📚 Europe PMC (literature mentions)
Source: https://europepmc.org
Citation chips on clone pages come from Europe PMC, which indexes the full text of millions of open-access life-science articles. When a publication mentions an exact vendor catalog number, the matching offer gets a 📚 chip linking to the search results — so you can see the literature behind a specific product, not just the vendor's description.
Why Europe PMC: it mirrors the same PubMed Central open-access corpus as the US NCBI service, plus preprints and older abstracts, and its API is built for full-text search. Both draw on the same public literature.
🏭 Vendor Product Catalogs
Elentoo ingests pricing and availability data from 9 antibody vendors. Data is extracted from publicly available catalog feeds, sitemaps, and APIs where available. This list is generated live from the database, so it always reflects the vendors currently indexed.
License: Vendor-specific. Pricing data is republished under fair use for comparison purposes. Elentoo does not claim ownership of vendor data.
How Attribution Works
On Clone Detail Pages
Each clone detail page displays a "Data sources" section near the bottom. This section shows:
- Antibody Registry: Basic identity, target, clone designation, and vendor list
- Experimental Evidence: Only Good Antibodies validation (when available)
- Vendor Pricing: Which vendors we have current prices for
- User Contributions: Lab-contributed quote data (aggregated and anonymized)
No attribution text implies endorsement. We display where data comes from, not whether we recommend it.
Data Processing & Disclaimers
What we do: Aggregate and normalize publicly available data from multiple sources. We do not validate the underlying data, perform experiments, or make recommendations.
What we don't do: We do not claim ownership of any data. We do not endorse any vendor, antibody, or experimental result. We do not modify the original claims made by vendors or data sources.
For research: Always verify antibody performance in your specific application. Consult peer-reviewed literature, contact vendors directly, and run appropriate controls. Use the original data sources — Elentoo is an index, not an authority.
Citing Elentoo
If you use Elentoo in your research, please cite the specific data sources (Antibody Registry, Only Good Antibodies, or vendors) rather than Elentoo itself. Elentoo is a discovery tool, not a primary data source.
